Brenda or "Lalila"

Brenda was born in Mutare, Zimbabwe and currently lives in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Her love of the African bush and wildlife originates from her childhood. Her earliest memories are from her first home, constructed with log walls and dung floors where she vividly recalls the sounds of the wilds and the beating of tribal drums.

Her inspiration to paint stems from the appreciation she developed for its tranquility and abundant wildlife.  The locals call her “Lalila“, which means “quiet thing” or “sitting on eggs”.   It signifies the hours of pleasure she derives from her painting detailed fine art typifying her wildlife subjects and their habitat.  Brenda has many physical limitations due to an unfortunate debilitating disease but her determination to persevere is evident in her superb life-like paintings of wildlife on commercially laid ostrich eggs.  Each egg is truly a work of art and must be viewed in its entirety to gather a full appreciation for her work.
